If you can believe it, I am officially in my New York apartment!! I arrived on Friday afternoon, and have been spending the last few days buying the basics and getting as settled as I can without all of my things. All of my furniture is coming from Texas, and unfortunately I have no control over when it arrives… so in the meantime, I am on an air mattress! Cross country moves are not for the faint of heart – my friend Patti told me moving to New York weeds out the weak, and she is 100% correct. Even without my furniture, I am in love with my apartment up here! It is situated in the heart of the West Village, so it’s incredibly walkable to amazing restaurants, shopping, the West Side Highway, etc.

Because I’m at the mercy of the movers and there’s a pretty solid chance they will not arrive while I’m up here this trip, I’ll likely be back up to New York right after Christmas or right after New Year’s. I’ve really gotta play it all by ear, which is a little challenging since I’m also moving out of my Dallas house into a condo in Austin… so there’s still a lot in the air, but hopefully the timing will all work out in my favor! Needless to say, I’ll be thrilled to finally get settled after the first of the year once both moves are officially over.
