Howdy from the Big Apple! In case you missed it, I’ve started an apartment hunt in the West Village, as I’d like to start splitting my time between Texas and New York. I plan to downsize back in Texas, so I have a small footprint in both cities. To say the rental search is daunting is an understatement. There are so few apartments available, and when a new one does open up, it’s gone before anyone even has a chance to tour it! People must just throw money at it and fill out an application before they even see it. I may have to change my strategy! Someone messaged me on Instagram and told me apartment hunting here is both thrilling and demoralizing, and I couldn’t agree more!!!

I have a little less than three weeks left in my stay here, so I want to make the most of it and see as many places as I can! That way even if I don’t find a place before I leave, I’ll know exactly what I’m looking for when it pops up and I can be as sure as those people who pay upfront before viewing an apartment. Time is on my side, since I’m not in a rush, but ideally I’d like to find something that is ready for move-in after the holidays! Fingers crossed!
