If you’ve followed me for awhile, you’ll know I do a capsule wardrobe every season! I started doing them back in 2019 and they instantly became my most popular content here on my blog. Because of how comprehensive they are, they are quite the labor of love and for a while, were totally worth the investment of my time. Over the years however, they stopped hitting like they used to – I was pouring so much effort into something that wasn’t getting the reception it once did, whether that be from engagement, shares or sales. I’ve been toying with the idea of not doing more capsule wardrobes going forward, and even posed the question on my Instagram stories to see what my followers thought about them, whether they are still useful and if they’re still necessary and wanted. While it wasn’t an overwhelming majority, I’d say about three quarters of the responses requested I continue doing them! With that feedback in mind I’ve decided to continue creating them, but with some tweaks.

THE FALL 2026 CAPSULE WARDROBE

Instead of doing a 75-page PDF of repetitive outfit inspo, this time I’m going to share my recommendations for closet essentials that make up a classic capsule wardrobe AND an edit of pieces with personality to consider mixing in this season. Again, the essentials serve as a reminder of the building blocks and basics you likely already have hanging in your closet! For example: a neutral trench, black blazer, solid tees, etc. You might not have the exact items featured here, but I’d be surprised if you don’t have something similar you could use to create the outfits featured in this post!

Below the essentials, you’ll find more fun, on-trend styles to consider working in and styling with your existing basics! Think seasonal fabrics and patterns, pops of color and more interesting items that will add personality to your closet. I wanted to include a range of options here based on what I’m loving in the fall collections available, and also for you to choose something that makes sense for your lifestyle and wardrobe needs! If you follow me on IG you’ll know I just picked up this pair of tapestry-inspired floral pants for fall/winter – I’m obsessed! I love the rich texture and mix of colors in the jacquard fabric and am so excited to wear them. This miniskirt features a similar look and feels a little more versatile for a traditional fall color palette. While I’ve paired it with a lot of black here due to the capsule essentials I have selected, it will pair particularly well with burgundy, brown, navy, green, tan and other rich fall hues you may already have in your wardrobe!
