MERRITT BECK IN AN EDWARD CRUTCHLEY FOR FABRIQUE MAEVE COAT

THANK YOU, NEXT IN AN EDWARD CRUTCHLEY FOR FABRIQUE MAEVE COAT

I think we’re all pretty happy that January is behind us, no? Can’t say last month was the best start to the new year, but I’m crossing my fingers that the future will be much brighter. When times feel bleak and the news cycle is getting me down, I like to make plans. Putting things on the calendar that I can look forward to always puts me in a more positive headspace. If anything, serves as a distraction in the moment from the current chaos!

Last week, for example, I booked a trip to Paris for my birthday in July. I can. not. wait! I came across this post on Instagram that alerted me to a brand new exhibit at the Louvre. So, I was inspired enough to plan a trip around seeing it before it ends this summer! Curated by Olivier Gabet, the exhibit is called Louvre Couture. It features 65 couture designs + accessories by some of the most iconic fashion houses. The pieces will be displayed throughout the Department of Decorative Arts. It’s a 9,000 square meter space featuring tapestries, furniture and other decor items. Also, will serve as an occasion to highlight existing parallels between the decorative arts and contemporary fashion design. The exhibit just opened on January 24th, and will be on until July 21st of this year!

Celebrating My Birthday

My birthday is on July 11th, so I decided what better way to celebrate than with a trip to Paris and a chance to see this first ever fashion exhibition at the Louvre! My friend Amy will be joining me, as may a couple of other friends – it’s going to be so fabulous! I’ve already booked my flight and the hotel room (thanks to a little help with some AMEX points), and I can’t wait to dive into planning as we get a little closer to the trip.

Since I’ll be in New York all summer, I’ll be flying from there to Paris. I haven’t had the opportunity to do that since I’ve been in New York over the last year, and I’m excited about the shorter flights to and from Europe! I’m also looking forward to being back in New York for a longer stretch later this spring/summer, but for now I’m settling for a short trip later this month to get my hair done and shoot some content. I’m not taking Reeses, so even though I’m working, it’ll feel a little like a vacation!
