Even though I’m thriving in the Miami heat at the moment, I know in just about 24 hours I’ll be back to winter and the layers that come with it. While I know I won’t be shedding all of my winter layers anytime soon, I do look forward to the moment when I won’t necessarily need a puffer or even a wool coat! A leather or suede jacket would suit me just fine right about now. I used to think of suede as a strictly fall fabric, anyone else? I’m not sure why it feels that way to me. I associated fall with cowboy boots and western-themed events when I lived back in Texas, so maybe that’s the reason? Either way, suede is not season-specific… and this spring gives us plenty of examples! Suede, particularly more colorful suede, is having a moment right now. From powder pinks, blues and butter yellows, to more vivid Kelly and chartreuse greens, there’s quite a variety to choose from depending on the palette you’re going for this season!

When it popped up in Shopbop’s new arrivals section, I was instantly drawn to this Tanya Taylor suede jacket and matching miniskirt in this piercing steel blue hue. Because it stays pretty cool here until late May, I know it’s going to be useful over the next several months of transitional weather! The jacket and skirt will be great as a set, but also easy to style when worn separately – I love the idea of pairing the skirt with an equally colorful sweater in a complimentary color and adding cute slingbacks like this. Such a cute outfit idea for spring! The jacket will be great over basic tees and jeans for everyday casual looks.
