Say hello to my new ‘do! A few weeks ago I went darker and cut a few fresh layers, and it has truly been transformative. Aside from a boxed dye job in high school and a brief few months in college where I went much darker, I’ve been platinum blonde my entire life! I’d been wanting to make a change for awhile now, and I finally took the plunge at my last hair appointment. Something about my full time move to New York felt like the perfect time to make such a change! I’m kicking myself for not doing it sooner though, because I think this color suits me so well. I love the added depth and texture, and think the color complements my skin tone so much better! Probably because it’s much closer to my natural color?
It’s funny, I look back at photos from as recently as this summer and think the bright blonde looks pretty harsh on me in retrospect… but because that’s all I’d known I was scared to do anything different! I’d even go so far as to say this more natural look makes me look younger? Needless to say I’m thrilled with the change and it’s a good reminder to take a chance when you feel pulled to. Life is short. Get the haircut. Change your hair color. After all if you don’t like it, you can always change it back or do something different the next time!
On a separate note, this cutout blazer is a piece I snagged on major sale while shopping at Le Bon Marché in Paris this summer! While you could certainly style it over a white tee, I think it looks bold and sexy worn as a top with some skin peeking through. Definitely a fun piece to wear out at night! I wore this exact look to a couple of back-to-back events in October and got so many compliments on it. These jeans I’ve been wearing on repeat ever since I purchased them, and just before Thanksgiving I also purchased them in black. They have a bit of stretch and are super comfortable, and I find the extra-long inseam incredibly flattering with a pointed toe pump or boot – it creates such a leg-elongating effect! You can see them on me here, here, here and here for more outfit inspo.
PS: This was our first time shooting photos in my new apartment, which will definitely come in handy when the temps get really frigid later this winter! It’s a beautiful space with nice big windows – the natural light is amazing!! I shared a vlog of my move here and last week I shared a peek inside my closets, dressers and drawers to for an inside look at how I organized everything. Watch that latest video here!
