HERMES PADDOCK CASHMERE SHAWL JEAN LUIS CLERC

I’m not a big Hermès shopper, but I do love their cashmere shawls. Every season comes with a new collection of captivating prints and thrilling color combinations, and they really are so incredibly useful. The cashmere is soft and lightweight, but very effective at keeping you warm! Whenever I’m traveling, it’s one thing I always make sure I’ve packed. From a cozy extra layer on a long flight, to adding texture and interest to any casual outfit, or throwing one over your shoulders for a nice dinner, Hermès scarves are uniquely versatile accessories! They also have stunning silk scarves, which would be a better option if you run hot – since I’m always chilly, the cashmere is what calls to me.

Having owned several Hermès cashmere shawls over the years, I’ve discovered that even though I generally prefer a more neutral wardrobe, the vibrant, multi-colored Hermès prints are the ones I reach for most! The more color, the better. This latest addition to my Hermès scarf collection certainly has the most neutral backdrop, but features punchy pops of color that make it easy to tie into whatever color story I’m going for that day. This season, for example, I’m really loving ochre/golden/mustard shades! This particular print, by Swiss artist Jean-Luis Clerc, features hints of that rich hue throughout. I love that it coordinates so well with my new Toteme clutch for the fall, as well as these Liisa pumps by The Row. In the spring, I may lean into the white, pale blue or sage green for a softer vibe!

While all of my Hermès cashmere shawls are the 140 x 140 cm square size, I’d like to add a couple of the triangles to my collection – they have less fabric and are therefore much easier to style, wrap and tie around your neck. The square size is more effective for warmth and if you desire more coverage! They serve different purposes so if you can afford it, getting scarves in both shapes is the way to go. If you’re new to shopping Hermès or want to see the latest and greatest selection, my advice would be to visit an Hermès boutique near you. In addition to finding exclusive styles in certain cities, the boutiques generally have a wider variety of prints and colors than what is available on their website. It’s also a smart idea to try on the different sizes, shapes and materials to see if you have a preference on how they look on you! The most colorful backgrounds and print options at the moment are in the silk fabric, while the cashmere styles for fall feel more muted in tone with pops of color like my scarf above! Every time I go into the boutique there’s a new assortment, so if you want a cashmere scarf in brilliant brights, I guarantee you won’t have to wait long.

With that said, not everyone has a location nearby! Below are some of my favorite scarves on the Hermès website right now, along with some other seasonal new arrivals on my wish list!
