Whether you’re a corporate queen or a stay-at-home mom, a white button-down is the ultimate wearable staple and wardrobe workhorse. Worn solo or used as a layering piece, a crisp white shirt adds instant polish to any outfit. On a more casual fall day, style it under a cropped sweater or sweatshirt with the hem peeking out at the bottom. For an elevated-casual work look, simply pair it with wide leg trousers and loafers. You can even dress up the white button-up for evening with a ballgown skirt a la Carolina Herrera! The styling options are truly endless when you have the right white shirt.
I have a few white shirts I wear pretty regularly (including some fun cropped styles!), but by far the most useful is this Hutton shirt by KULE. Although it is described as oversized, I’d say it’s a pretty classic shape. The cotton is soft but crisp, and not at all see through. It’s long enough to tuck into pretty much anything, but you’re also not dealing with a bunch of excess fabric. My favorite thing about it though, is it doesn’t have a front pocket. I find pocketed shirts are less flattering – either the pocket is too small and accentuates the chest, or the pocket is too large like it’s trying to make a statement. The Hutton shirt is the ideal streamlined, menswear-inspired look for however you plan to style your button-down. I recently wore it under my new bib sweater, with a polished pair of trouser jeans, and with the same blazer you see above but with cropped jeans and loafers.
