One week ago I made my return to New York from five days in Paris! It was such a fun getaway with girlfriends, where we shopped, ate, drank and simply enjoyed the city of light. You can pack SO much into a day in Paris because the sun sets so late – we’d be finishing up dinner at 10pm and the sun would finally be going down! It messes with your Circadian rhythm a bit, because you think it’s much earlier than it actually is. I stayed out way later than I’m used to, all because at 10pm it felt like 7pm! Even with those late nights, we took full advantage of our days.
PASSPORT TO PARIS
I didn’t do much shopping ahead of my Paris trip, but did order a couple of things last minute from Shopbop and Revolve because I started stressing. I kept things budget-friendly because I knew I was going to be spending money once I got there! This gingham crop top and maxi skirt look is a great price and an effortless, breathable set for hot summer days. Especially in Europe where there is a serious lack of A/C, you need lightweight looks that are comfortable for all day wear. I alternated between sandals and sneakers for all of the walking we were doing – this is my third summer wearing these Emme Parsons sandals! They are super comfortable and have held up so well, especially considering how much I’ve worn them over three years. All of that to say, very high-quality and worth the investment! I wear my usual size in the sandals, and took an XS in both Playa Lucille pieces. Keep reading to shop more chic sets for summer travel on a budget!
My sister works at Neiman’s and I’d spotted this raffia bucket hat at her fashion event in April, and thought it would be the ideal summer accessory to protect my face while wandering around town. I can’t wait to take it with me to California next month! Speaking of which, I can’t believe I only have one week left in New York for the summer. I’m going back to Austin for a couple weeks next week, before heading to California for three weeks in August! So I won’t be back in New York until September. I’m sad to leave, but excited to go back to Carlsbad – it’s one of my favorite places, and I treat it like a true vacation every time I’m there! PS: I couldn’t find this exact hat style online, but they have this similar bucket style with the same black Triomphe embroidery!
