Align Fern Satin Minidress - The Edit by Merritt Beck

There’s been a loooooot of construction going on both to my building and the townhome across the street. It’s been very loud (cough, distracting), and because of the brick work being done on my building, I’m not allowed to turn on my AC. It was 80 degrees yesterday! There’s almost zero air flow in my apartment, except for the fan in my bedroom and one small standing fan that only really works if you place it directly in front of you. Needless to say, I’m having a bit of a frustrating week and not feeling as productive as I normally am! I wish they would have started this construction in November, when the temps were sure to be on the lower end. I will say it looks like today is the last day of warmer temperatures for a week or so, so I’ll get a little reprieve from this stuffy air in my apartment. I get too distracted by audial and visual stimuli to work from a coffeeshop, so working from home is still a better situation in that regard. The noise I can mostly tune out thanks to podcasts and my noise-cancelling airpods… it’s the heat I can’t stand!

Ok, rant over! Just had to get that off my chest. I did get a new TV installed this week that better fits the wall between my chairs in the living room, so I am excited about that! The one the landlord left in the apartment was pretty old, and while it worked for awhile, the HDMI ports just stopped working all of a sudden last weekend. She didn’t want to pay to fix it since it’s an older TV (understandably), so I just ordered a new one that I’ll take with me to my next apartment! The original TV was a great size, but was hung pretty low. My landlord just had short stools in front of it before, but when I moved in I brought my swivel chairs. These unfortunately were taller than the bottom of the TV, so they actually blocked some of the screen when I was watching something. There was already a TV rack installed and I didn’t want to do further damage to the wall, but luckily the Best Buy guy was able to put the new TV on the highest rack setting. It’s a slightly smaller TV too, which helps. It barely skims the top of the chairs – not perfect, but soooo much better than before!

PS: taking a hard pivot to let you know I’ve started working on my holiday gift guides! I will be launching these in November, which if you can believe it, starts next week. Stay tuned for my favorite present picks this season! In the meantime, here’s a new Edit to lust over.
