THE BOOTS THAT ALMOST GOT AWAY

01.24

The first time I laid eyes on these cap toe boots was last July and I immediately fell in love! At the time I had just plopped a bunch of money down on some other shoes for fall, as well as items in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale and just wasn’t ready to make another big purchase. Sadly when I looked a couple months later, my size was sold out! I couldn’t find them in stock in my size anywhere. I don’t normally feel regret about missing out on an item, but I definitely did with these. They are so me!

I’d nearly lost all hope, but during Cyber Week a reader alerted me she found them on Farfetch, and they just so happened to be on sale! I didn’t hesitate and bought them right away. I’m so glad I did, because they fit me like a glove! I have pretty narrow calves and most boots are too wide on me, but these zip all the way up for a more fitted look. I think the cap toe detail is a very classic look (very Chanel!), and I think they are going to be a boot I’ll reach for year after year. Plus, they’re in two of my favorite neutral colors! Can’t lose. I would have packed these for London and Germany, but the forecast said rain nearly every day! So I not so patiently waited until I was back for Christmas to bust ’em out. I’ve already worn them a bunch (styled them here and here over the holidays)! The forecast for Chicago says a lot of snow this weekend/next week, so I didn’t pack these, but I’m looking forward to wearing them all next month when I’m back in Dallas! These boots are still available and still on sale, so don’t miss out! They do fit true to size, but may not be a good choice if you’ve got larger calves! They don’t stretch.

Also I realize this story sounds a lot like the one I told on Wednesday with the Veja sneakers, but a 9 1/2 shoe sells out fast! I’ve been lucky in the shoe department lately with them coming back in stock!
