Five Easy Ways to Change Up Your Makeup Look for the Holidays

Need to upgrade your makeup look for the next holiday party on your calendar? Here are four super easy ways to shake things up during party season. Like the rest of my beauty routine, I found all of these products at Nordstrom! It’s my all-time favorite place to shop for makeup, as they have a massive selection of beauty brands, amazing palettes and so many great gift ideas and sets too!

TRY A RED POUT

I hate to admit I don’t wear bright or dark lipstick very often. I’m such a creature of habit, and my go-to is always just a simple nude-pink matte lipstick with an occasional shimmery gloss. With that said, I always like to jazz up my makeup routine during the holiday season with a punch of color by adding a classic red lip to my look. I have SO many good shades of red in my lipstick drawer, so it would be a shame not to use them! My current fave is this Be Legendary  Liquid Lip in Bad Apple for a solid, pigmented red. It’s what I’m wearing in these photos and I love the subtle shine to it! For a more metallic look, I also have the Liquid Lip Metal in Crimson Chrome. It’s amazing! I actually have several colors of this formula. It’s very creamy like a lipstick but applies like a gloss. The other color I’m loving is Mauve Squad – obviously not red, but a good shimmery pink for more subdued holiday lip looks!

ADD SOME SPARKLE

Whether you add it with shadow or a pencil like this as I’ve used here, it’s super easy to add subtle shimmer and sparkle to your eye look without it looking like clown makeup. I love to line my eyes with this Laura Mercier Caviar Stick in Gilded Gold! Sometimes I line the edges, sometimes just the bottom, and sometimes I spread it all on my upper lid. It looks gorgeous anywhere you apply it! Subtle, pretty and perfect for the holidays.

PLAY WITH COLOR

I’m a BIG fan of eyeshadow palettes and probably own far too many. I just love to play around with different colors! While most of the colors I use up are the more neutral shades for everyday wear, for parties and special occasions I love to coordinate my eye makeup with my outfit. Here I’ve accented my look with a subtle pink smokey lid to pick up the pink in my dress! I used this LORAC palette to do it. It has so many great colors to choose from and create dozens of different eye looks each and every time! Definitely a favorite palette of mine and a great gift idea for the holiday season. On a related note, one of these days I hope LORAC creates a duo or single eyeshadow for Pink Cream, Crepe, Tulle and Cava from this palette! I loooove those and use them so much (clearly).

HIGHLIGHT

While I don’t do this often, when I’m taking blog photos or have a fun party/event, I like to highlight areas like my cheekbones, nose and brow area. I use this Laura Geller Swirl Illuminator in Gilded Honey to define those areas, add a subtle shimmer and make my look POP! This product is in addition to the gel highlighter I mixed with my foundation. The combo really gives you a gorgeous overall glow!
