Hey guys, it’s Allison! It’s August, which means it is officially back to school season, which also means it’s back to school shopping season – my favorite! Whether or not you are actually going back to school, August is a great time to update your wardrobe and re-organize your life!
I realize going to class is not a fashion show, but I still like to look cute and put together. I feel like getting dressed in the morning and picking out an outfit just sets me up for a productive day, plus I am a big believer in dressing for success! I generally stick to a great pair of jeans like these and a cute top with a trendy of pair of sandals or sneakers depending on how my pedicure is holding up!
A big tote is key to the school year. You only need one that you can pick up and go with every single day so I love this neutral Tory Burch tote. It’s not going to clash with any outfit and it’s going to fit everything I need for the day so I never have to stop back at my apartment between classes or even before I head off to work!
My one big must-have is a planner. I know people love to say “there’s an app for that” but there truly isn’t. There is something about being able to hand write a to do list for every day and seeing your month at a glance that makes it easier to visualize everything you have to do, prepare for, and get done every day/week/month. I don’t leave home without my planner and if you don’t have one, it is life changing and you need one.
The other big part of fall is football! Here in the south we like to dress up for our games. We generally brunch beforehand and then head out to The Boulevard, which is basically a tailgate without trucks or t-shirts. It’s a sundress and heels (or cowboy boots) affair and for the first one we wear white so you can catch me in this Michael Kors dress that day! Also, Dallas stays hot throughout the fall and for days like these when I am outside for most of it, I keep my face powder with me to make sure I don’t look like a sweaty mess in photos!
