Yesterday I had the incredible opportunity to interview one of my favorite celebrity stylists (and reality stars), Mr. Brad Goreski! Brad is currently on a signing tour for his new book, Born To Be Brad, and he just so happened to stop by Brooks Brothers in West Village. Check out my 10 minute interview with him below and click here to buy the book!

TSS: Just like when I saw you at the Lela Rose show at NYFW, I got seriously star-struck when I saw you on the corner outside of Brooks Brothers just now. What celebrities get you giddy or have you not yet worked with that you are dying to style?

BG: You know, that’s a hard question. I feel so blessed to get to work with so many different women, although if I had a new dream client I would love to work with Emma Watson or Elizabeth Olsen.

TSS: Having worked on the publishing side at Vogue and W Magazine earlier on, what made you decide to switch over to styling as your career?

BG: Good question. There was too much paper pushing on the publishing side. It was like, you know, scheduling, taping down receipts. You have to know what you are good at and those were just skills that I don’t have. I felt like when I was on set I would excel and when I was with the clothes I would excel, but when I was doing administrative stuff I was a disaster!

TSS: I highly doubt a disaster, but clearly you made the right choice! With the TV show, your Kate Spade gig, numerous celebrity clients and a book coming out, how do you manage your time?

BG: Lindsay Myers. I hope that there’s a season 2 {for It’s A Brad, Brad World}, so that people can see that Lindsay deals with so much more than you could ever imagine. The amount of traveling that I’ve done, between scheduling with the show and she was a big part of helping Gary with the flash mob. She does everything with a smile and everything she does is seamless. She takes really good care of me, so I hope that people can get to see that.

TSS: Do you have any up-and-coming designers do you think we should watch out for?

BG: Yeah! Rachel Antonoff, I dunno if she’s very up and coming (she’s been around for a couple seasons) but she does really cute clothes. There’s Heidi Merrick who is based in LA and my clients really like. Lisa Ho, another client favorite. I would say Marlan Gobel who does menswear is really good.

TSS: What do you think would surprise people about being a stylist?

BG: I think people think it’s extremely glamorous, but it’s a lot of late nights. It’s a lot of following up and it’s a lot of scheduling and coordinating details. There’s a lot of moving parts in styling.

TSS: What else is on the agenda for 2012?

BG: The funny thing is, I kind of go by like every two weeks. The Met Ball is coming up, the White House Correspondence is coming up – I’m not going to either of those but I have people going. The thing I’m actually working towards is that I’m taking two weeks off and going on vacation with Gary, which we haven’t done for almost two years.

***PS: If you’re in the Austin area this afternoon, Brad will be signing more of his books at the Brooks Brothers in the Scarborough Building from 5-7pm!
