One of my favorite things we did in Tokyo was actually visiting the Gucci Four Rooms art exhibition in the Ginza store. We arrived right at 11am when the store opened and got the whole exhibit to ourselves! It was awesome. The first room we entered was the Gucci Words Room, featuring a light show of sorts, music, and even an interactive segment that allowed you control where digital “paint” was splattered over Gucci pieces on the wall. So neat! The second was the Gucci Herbarium Room, featuring a forest of red – this was my favorite space! It was difficult to take photos that truly captured the look of the red forest room, but it was very cool to see. This room is actually what captured my attention after seeing someone post about it on Instagram while researching for the trip – it’s what inspired me to add Gucci Four Rooms to the itinerary! The third room was the Gucci Garden, featuring graffiti, life-size anime characters, and various Gucci pieces showcased throughout the room. The 4th room was actually housed at a different location and the exhibition for that room had already ended, so we didn’t get to see that one. Unfortunately the Gucci Four Rooms art exhibit ends today, but hopefully you enjoy some of my photos from the experience!

Another thing you must add to your list when visiting Tokyo is experiencing Shibuya Crossing (and the neighborhood), and walking around Shinjuku. If you do nothing else in Shibuya, you at least need to experience the “scramble” at Shibuya Crossing – you’ve probably seen photos or heard about this famous intersection? There’s really nothing like it. All the lights turn red in every direction, halting vehicles, and then people cross the street every which way. It’s fascinating! Not to mention it’s covered in big screens, ads and signs that will make you think you’re looking at Times Square.

If you’re hoping to capture photos of crazy neon lights, head over to Shinjuku. This area is known as the entertainment district, and in one particular section, the red light district of Tokyo. Given that, I wouldn’t recommend walking around Shinjuku at night – it’s a pretty seedy crowd. With that said, it’s definitely worth checking out! One might call it a sensory overload with all of the lights, sounds and people.
